The complete day-by-day plan

Your 10-day journey.

9 nights, with time to explore each destination. This is a detailed proposed programme; the final schedule follows your dates, confirmed transport and local conditions.

Day 1

Eastern Serengeti

Arrive in the eastern plains

Take the confirmed flight into the Serengeti and continue from the airstrip by safari vehicle to Namiri Plains.

From the airstrip, continue by safari vehicle towards your accommodation in the eastern Serengeti. The drive introduces open grassland and kopjes, with stops for animals where practical. After the welcome and orientation, enjoy a little time in camp before an afternoon outing if the flight schedule allows.

Talk with your guide about recent activity and your interests for the coming days. This is a place to observe the relationship between predators and the animals they follow, not to expect a hunt on demand. The first evening is kept relaxed after the journey.

Day 2

Eastern Serengeti

A day devoted to the open plains

Start early and scan the grassland and rocky rises with your guide. The open views are well suited to watching movement and behaviour over time; a distant animal can become a far more interesting encounter when you wait rather than drive straight past.

Return for a break during the hotter hours, then explore again as the light changes. Your guide may discuss predator ecology and how different species share the landscape. Any dedicated research encounter must be arranged and confirmed separately; ordinary game drives should not be presented as guaranteed access to scientific fieldwork.

Day 3

Eastern Serengeti

Another perspective on the Serengeti

Spend the morning following a fresh route or returning to an area that deserves more time. Let the guide choose based on current sightings rather than a fixed map. A picnic may be practical for a longer outing, while a shorter drive leaves more time to enjoy the camp setting.

If a guided walk is available and suitable for your party, enquire about the requirements before planning it. Otherwise, use the afternoon for another drive with a different focus, such as birds or landscape photography. Enjoy your final evening here and prepare your small-flight luggage for tomorrow.

Day 4

Northern Serengeti

Settle into the northern Serengeti

Transfer to the airstrip and fly to Kogatende, followed by a drive to Sayari.

Meet your guide at the airstrip and continue to camp, with the transfer offering an introduction to the northern landscape. After check-in and a briefing, an afternoon game drive is possible when arrival times allow. Keep the first outing flexible rather than trying to reach every viewpoint immediately.

The next days are shaped by actual wildlife movements. When migration herds are in the region, your guide assesses their position and river conditions; at other times, the focus is the resident wildlife and changing scenery. Neither the presence of herds nor a river crossing can be guaranteed.

Day 5

Northern Serengeti

A full day in the north

Begin with a morning drive and let recent observations guide the route. If herds are nearby, watch their movements patiently without assuming that gathering beside a river means they will cross. At other times, explore for resident animals across the grassland, woodland edges and kopjes.

Agree lunch arrangements with camp according to how far you travel. The afternoon can continue the morning’s theme or explore a different habitat before returning for dinner. Responsible viewing means leaving animals space and accepting that the most rewarding encounter may be something entirely different from the day’s original plan.

Day 6

Northern Serengeti

Keep time on your side

Use another full morning to follow your interests rather than repeat a rigid circuit. Wildlife watching often improves when there is time to stay with a scene, observe interactions and wait for better light. Your guide will help balance this patience with opportunities elsewhere in the area.

After a rest, head out for a last drive or enjoy part of the afternoon in camp. A balloon safari, if available for your dates, is an optional advance booking rather than a standard inclusion. Check tomorrow’s flight time in the evening and keep travel essentials separate from your checked safari bag.

Day 7

Ruaha National Park

Arrive among Ruaha’s kopjes

Fly from the northern Serengeti to Ruaha on the scheduled routing and transfer to Jabali Ridge.

Meet your safari guide and continue into Ruaha’s landscape of rocky outcrops, woodland and broad views. The journey to your accommodation is part of the introduction, with wildlife stops where practical. Once in camp, take time for orientation before deciding how much of the afternoon to spend exploring.

Ruaha rewards patience and a willingness to follow the guide’s local knowledge. The first outing helps establish where animals are feeding or resting, rather than attempting a long circuit after a travel day. Return to camp with enough time to wash off the dust and enjoy dinner.

OvernightJabali Ridge
Day 8

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha from first light

Set out in the cool morning to explore the habitats surrounding camp. Look beyond individual sightings: elephant paths, browsing signs and bird calls help tell the story of this landscape. Your guide adjusts the drive to road conditions, recent observations and the distance that makes sense for the day.

After a midday pause, head out again as the light softens. Spend time observing an interesting sighting instead of rushing between locations. A walking activity can be discussed where available, with safety, age and staffing requirements checked first; it does not replace a drive automatically or imply unrestricted access on foot.

Day 9

Ruaha National Park

A deeper day in the bush

With a full day still available, revisit a productive area or explore another part of the camp’s normal game-viewing range. If a longer drive is worthwhile, discuss lunch arrangements the previous evening so the day can unfold comfortably without an unnecessary return journey.

Keep some time to enjoy the setting of your accommodation as well as the wildlife. Optional spa treatments or specialist activities, where offered, are booked separately unless your proposal includes them. The final evening is a good opportunity to review sightings and confirm the following morning’s airstrip transfer.

Day 10

Dar es Salaam

Your onward journey

Transfer to the local airstrip for your confirmed flight to Dar es Salaam. The road journey and any intermediate flight stops are allowed for in your final schedule.

Enjoy breakfast and a final look at the setting before your collection, subject to the departure time. A last wildlife activity is only possible when the transfer schedule genuinely leaves enough room; it is not automatically included on a flying day. Keep passports, medication and valuables in your hand luggage.

Before confirming international flights, let us check the complete connection, including any airport change, baggage collection and immigration requirements. If the timings are too tight, an additional overnight stop should be arranged rather than relying on a rushed transfer. No accommodation is scheduled for tonight in this itinerary.
