The complete day-by-day plan

Your 9-day journey.

8 nights, with time to explore each destination. This is a detailed proposed programme; the final schedule follows your dates, confirmed transport and local conditions.

Day 1

Nairobi

Welcome to Kenya

Meet your driver at Nairobi’s international airport and transfer to your hotel.

On arrival, meet your driver and transfer to your Nairobi accommodation. Allow for city traffic and take the rest of the day at an easy pace. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax in your room or spend a quiet afternoon around the hotel.

This overnight stay separates the international journey from the safari transfers ahead. Review the following morning’s collection time and baggage guidance before dinner. Nairobi sightseeing can be discussed separately when flight timings leave enough time, but it is not assumed to be part of this arrival day.

Day 2

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Arrive in Ol Pejeta

Continue from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta on the confirmed safari transfer, allowing for the journey into the conservancy.

Travel into Ol Pejeta and settle into camp, with an introductory drive where the arrival schedule allows. Your guide will explain the conservancy’s mixture of wildlife habitat and active management, helping place the animal encounters in a broader conservation context.

Keep the first afternoon manageable after the journey, especially with children. Discuss which conservation experiences interest you so that availability and any charges can be checked for the coming days. Special enclosures, behind-the-scenes visits and staff demonstrations should not be assumed to be part of ordinary game drives.

Day 3

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Wildlife and conservation

Spend the morning exploring with your guide, watching for rhinos and other wildlife while learning about the practical work of protecting a conservancy. Animal sightings are not guaranteed, but tracks, habitat and management discussions make the experience more than a search for a single species.

An additional conservation visit may be possible by advance arrangement, subject to operating schedules and the appropriate fees. Otherwise, enjoy a break at camp before another game drive. For younger travellers, shorter outings and time for questions often work better than a continuous day in the vehicle.

Day 4

Maasai Mara

Arrive in the Mara

Transfer to the local airstrip for the Mara connection, then continue by vehicle to Rekero.

Meet your guide after the flight or road transfer and continue to camp, stopping for wildlife where practical. Following the camp welcome, enjoy time to settle before a first afternoon drive if the schedule allows. The open landscape makes a striking introduction even before a major sighting.

Discuss the available driving areas and your interests during the briefing. The Mara supports rewarding wildlife viewing beyond the migration period, so plans should follow current conditions rather than a fixed expectation of river crossings. Spend the first evening at camp ready for an early start tomorrow.

Day 5

Maasai Mara

A full safari day in the Mara

Start with a morning drive through the habitats accessible from camp. Give your guide time to investigate tracks and listen to the landscape, and allow longer stops when animals are behaving naturally nearby. The aim is a rewarding sequence of encounters, not simply collecting names on a list.

Depending on the route, have a picnic or return for lunch and a rest. A second outing brings different light and fresh possibilities before dinner. Keep river crossings in perspective: they are seasonal, unpredictable events and are never promised as part of a particular day’s programme.

Day 6

Mara Naboisho Conservancy

Welcome to the conservancy

Travel from the Mara reserve area into Naboisho Conservancy on the arranged camp transfer.

Continue to camp in Mara Naboisho and settle in after the journey. Your guide will explain the conservancy setting and the driving arrangements for your stay. If arrival times permit, take an introductory outing before returning to enjoy the quieter pace of the evening.

The following days leave room to explore without constant moves between lodges. Share any particular interests or family needs with the team at the start. Vehicle exclusivity and specialist activities depend on the booked arrangements; staying in a conservancy does not by itself mean every activity is private.

Day 7

Mara Naboisho Conservancy

Wildlife at a thoughtful pace

Head out in the cooler morning to explore the conservancy with your guide. Watch the interaction between animals and habitat, and allow time at productive sightings rather than constantly moving. For families, the drive can be planned around attention spans and comfort, with breaks discussed in advance.

Return for a midday pause before another outing later in the day. Where available and appropriate, a guided walk or night drive can add a different perspective, but permission, age limits and the booking basis must be checked first. A normal game drive remains a rewarding choice in its own right.

Day 8

Mara Naboisho Conservancy

Look beyond the obvious

Use the morning to concentrate on details missed during the first days: tracks in the road, birds calling from cover or the behaviour of a grazing herd. Your guide can turn these observations into a fuller understanding of the conservancy rather than simply repeating yesterday’s route.

Leave time to relax at camp before the afternoon programme. A community experience may be arranged with local hosts if desired, with respectful interaction and photography permissions discussed beforehand. It is an optional arrangement unless expressly included. Enjoy another evening in camp without the pressure of packing for an immediate move.

Day 9

Nairobi

Your onward journey

Transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi. Where the flight arrives at Wilson Airport, allow a separate road transfer and a generous traffic buffer for an international departure from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Enjoy breakfast and a final look at the setting before your collection, subject to the departure time. A last wildlife activity is only possible when the transfer schedule genuinely leaves enough room; it is not automatically included on a flying day. Keep passports, medication and valuables in your hand luggage.

Before confirming international flights, let us check the complete connection, including any airport change, baggage collection and immigration requirements. If the timings are too tight, an additional overnight stop should be arranged rather than relying on a rushed transfer. No accommodation is scheduled for tonight in this itinerary.
