The complete day-by-day plan

Your 9-day journey.

8 nights, with time to explore each destination. This is a detailed proposed programme; the final schedule follows your dates, confirmed transport and local conditions.

Day 1

Arusha

A gentle arrival in northern Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer by road to Legendary Lodge.

After the airport welcome, continue to your accommodation in the Arusha area. The first afternoon is reserved for settling in, with time to unpack only what you need for the night and enjoy the gardens or a quiet drink after your flight.

Your safari briefing covers tomorrow’s departure, luggage arrangements and the rhythm of the first wildlife days. Tell the team about any dietary needs or mobility considerations before setting off. If your flight arrives late, the priority is a comfortable transfer and rest; sightseeing is not squeezed into the evening.

Day 2

Eastern Serengeti

Arrive in the eastern plains

Transfer to Arusha Airport, fly to Seronera and continue by vehicle to Namiri Plains.

From the airstrip, continue by safari vehicle towards your accommodation in the eastern Serengeti. The drive introduces open grassland and kopjes, with stops for animals where practical. After the welcome and orientation, enjoy a little time in camp before an afternoon outing if the flight schedule allows.

Talk with your guide about recent activity and your interests for the coming days. This is a place to observe the relationship between predators and the animals they follow, not to expect a hunt on demand. The first evening is kept relaxed after the journey.

Day 3

Eastern Serengeti

A day devoted to the open plains

Start early and scan the grassland and rocky rises with your guide. The open views are well suited to watching movement and behaviour over time; a distant animal can become a far more interesting encounter when you wait rather than drive straight past.

Return for a break during the hotter hours, then explore again as the light changes. Your guide may discuss predator ecology and how different species share the landscape. Any dedicated research encounter must be arranged and confirmed separately; ordinary game drives should not be presented as guaranteed access to scientific fieldwork.

Day 4

Northern Serengeti

Settle into the northern Serengeti

Fly to Kogatende in the northern Serengeti and transfer to Sayari.

Meet your guide at the airstrip and continue to camp, with the transfer offering an introduction to the northern landscape. After check-in and a briefing, an afternoon game drive is possible when arrival times allow. Keep the first outing flexible rather than trying to reach every viewpoint immediately.

The next days are shaped by actual wildlife movements. When migration herds are in the region, your guide assesses their position and river conditions; at other times, the focus is the resident wildlife and changing scenery. Neither the presence of herds nor a river crossing can be guaranteed.

Day 5

Northern Serengeti

A full day in the north

Begin with a morning drive and let recent observations guide the route. If herds are nearby, watch their movements patiently without assuming that gathering beside a river means they will cross. At other times, explore for resident animals across the grassland, woodland edges and kopjes.

Agree lunch arrangements with camp according to how far you travel. The afternoon can continue the morning’s theme or explore a different habitat before returning for dinner. Responsible viewing means leaving animals space and accepting that the most rewarding encounter may be something entirely different from the day’s original plan.

Day 6

Bwindi forest region

Arrive in Uganda’s forest hills

Travel via Entebbe for immigration and the onward flight to Kihihi, then continue by road to Erebero Hills. Exact connections are confirmed before booking.

After the flight connections and arrival formalities, meet your driver for the transfer to your lodge. Settle in and enjoy the change from the Serengeti’s open views to the forest landscape. This is a travel day, so no demanding afternoon walk is assumed.

Review the gorilla trekking arrangements with the lodge team, including the assigned departure point, clothing and morning collection time. Your permit, park requirements and any porter assistance need to be settled in advance. A quiet dinner and an early night are the best preparation for the following day.

Day 7

Bwindi forest region

A planned gorilla encounter

Transfer to the appropriate briefing point for your pre-booked trek. With the rangers, enter the forest and follow the group at the pace required by the terrain. The gorillas’ location varies, so allow the whole day and do not assume that the walk will be short or straightforward.

Follow the ranger guidance on distance, behaviour and health precautions. After returning, take time to rest at the lodge rather than schedule another major excursion. Trekking is subject to permit availability and park rules, including age restrictions; these details must be confirmed before accepting the final journey.

Day 8

Bwindi forest region

Forest surroundings and local life

Keep the morning flexible after the trekking day. A separately arranged community experience can offer a thoughtful introduction to local life, provided it is led by the hosts and respects their choices about participation and photography. Alternatively, enjoy an easy morning at the lodge.

Any additional forest walk or second gorilla trek requires its own arrangements and may involve extra permits and charges. Use the afternoon to relax and prepare for the next day’s road and flight transfers. Your guide will confirm the collection time and the onward connection through Entebbe.

Day 9

Entebbe

Your onward journey

Return by road to Kihihi Airstrip and take the confirmed flight to Entebbe. Allow adequate time between the domestic arrival and your onward international departure.

Enjoy breakfast and a final look at the setting before your collection, subject to the departure time. A last wildlife activity is only possible when the transfer schedule genuinely leaves enough room; it is not automatically included on a flying day. Keep passports, medication and valuables in your hand luggage.

Before confirming international flights, let us check the complete connection, including any airport change, baggage collection and immigration requirements. If the timings are too tight, an additional overnight stop should be arranged rather than relying on a rushed transfer. No accommodation is scheduled for tonight in this itinerary.
