7 Days Tanzania Safari

This 7-day Tanzania safari is designed for travelers who want the best of the Northern Circuit without rushing. By flying into Serengeti, you save long road hours and turn your first safari day into a full wildlife experience. You’ll enjoy a strong Serengeti focus for predators and open plains, then transition to the Ngorongoro highlands for a Crater descent—one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense areas—before finishing at Lake Manyara for a completely different landscape of groundwater forest, open lakeshore, and excellent birdlife.

The flow is practical and comfortable: a gentle arrival in Arusha, a smooth flight into Serengeti, well-timed transfers that still include game viewing, and quality lodges positioned to reduce unnecessary driving. Each day is planned around the best wildlife windows (early morning and late afternoon), with flexible pacing depending on sightings and your preferences.

If you’d like upgrades such as a Serengeti balloon safari, private sundowners, or a Zanzibar extension after the safari, we can add them while keeping the same itinerary structure and logistics.

7 Day Tanzania Safari - Serengeti, Ngorongoro & Lake Manyara

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) – Transfer to Arusha

On arrival at JRO, you’ll be met by our team for a private transfer to Arusha. The drive is comfortable and gives you your first look at northern Tanzania’s scenery, with Mount Meru often visible on clear days. After check-in, you have time to settle in, refresh from your flight, and enjoy the calm surroundings before your safari begins in earnest.

If you arrive early, we can help arrange small optional add-ons such as a relaxed Arusha coffee stop, a short city craft visit, or simply time to rest and recover so you’re fresh for your Serengeti flight the next morning. Your guide (or our representative) will review the plan, confirm your flight timing, and answer any questions about park rules, photography, and daily pacing.

Overnight: Aya Sophia Wildlife Villa – Arusha

Day 2: Fly to Serengeti – Full Day Game Drive – Seronera Area

After an early breakfast, you transfer to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight into Serengeti (Seronera). This flight is one of the highlights itself—watch the terrain change from highlands to endless plains as you approach the park. On landing, your safari guide welcomes you and you begin game viewing immediately, maximizing your time in prime wildlife country.

Today is dedicated to a full Serengeti game drive with a focus on the Seronera region, famous for year-round water and consistent predator activity. Your guide will track recent sightings and move between kopjes (rock outcrops), river lines, and open plains where lions, cheetah, and leopard are often found. Expect large herbivore herds, giraffes, elephants, and plenty of photographic moments as you learn the patterns of the ecosystem.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the park, then continue the drive into the afternoon—often the best time for big cat movement as the heat drops. Arrive at your lodge for a well-earned dinner and a relaxed evening under Serengeti skies.

Overnight: Seronera Wildlife Lodge – Serengeti

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti Game Drive – Big Cats, Plains & River Lines

Today is a full Serengeti day, allowing you to explore deeper and stay out through the best viewing hours. An early start gives you the chance to catch sunrise activity—predators returning from hunts, hyenas patrolling, and herbivores moving toward water. Your guide will tailor the route based on the season and recent wildlife reports, aiming for the strongest encounters rather than fixed loops.

Depending on conditions, you may spend time around the Seronera River where leopard sightings can be excellent, then move to open plains for cheetah and large herd scenes. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch (or a relaxed break) and continue with afternoon game viewing when animals become more active again.

Your guide will also help you “read the bush”—tracking prints, understanding alarm calls, and predicting movement so sightings feel earned and immersive. Return to lodge in the late afternoon, with time to unwind before dinner.

Overnight: Seronera Wildlife Lodge – Serengeti

Day 4: Half Day Serengeti Safari – Transfer to Ngorongoro Highlands

After breakfast, you head out for a half-day Serengeti game drive—ideal for revisiting hotspots or searching for a species you still want to see. Morning light is excellent for photos, and wildlife tends to be active before the midday heat. Your guide keeps the drive purposeful and exciting, while also positioning you well for the transfer out of the park.

Later, you begin the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenery changes dramatically as you climb into cooler highlands with sweeping viewpoints over the plains. This is a great transition day—still wildlife-focused in the morning, then comfortable travel and rest to prepare for the Crater descent the next day.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge – Ngorongoro Highlands

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Transfer to Lake Manyara

Today is one of the most iconic safari days in Africa. You start early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater—an ancient caldera with a remarkable concentration of wildlife. Over the day you explore grasslands, woodland patches, swamps, and the soda lake, watching how each habitat supports different species.

Expect strong chances for lion, buffalo, hippo, hyena, zebra, and elephant. Ngorongoro is also one of the best areas in Tanzania to search for black rhino, and your guide will focus on the most promising zones. You enjoy a picnic lunch inside the Crater, then continue wildlife viewing before ascending back to the rim.

In the afternoon, you drive toward Lake Manyara, arriving in time to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere of the Rift Valley. This shift is perfect after the Crater—new landscapes, different wildlife behaviors, and a relaxed evening ahead.

Overnight: Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge – Lake Manyara

Day 6: Full Day Lake Manyara National Park – Forest, Lakeshore & Birdlife

After breakfast, you set out for a full day in Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara is compact but incredibly diverse—starting with a lush groundwater forest where baboons and blue monkeys are common, then opening to grassy clearings, marshes, and the lakeshore where flamingos and other water birds gather depending on the season.

The park is famous for elephants moving through the forest and for its varied scenery packed into a small area. Your guide will look for hippos, giraffes, buffalo, and—if conditions allow—tree-climbing lions (sightings vary). Because you have a full day, you can explore at a slower pace, stopping for photos, enjoying a picnic lunch, and returning to areas with the best activity rather than rushing through.

Later in the afternoon, you continue to Arusha for your final overnight. This keeps your airport transfer the next day smooth and stress-free, especially if your flight time is earlier.

Overnight: Arusha Summit Lodge – Arusha

Day 7: Departure – Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)

After breakfast, you’ll depart Arusha and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight. Timing is planned around your departure schedule to ensure a comfortable check-in. If you have a later flight and want a short stop (souvenir shopping, coffee break, or lunch), we can arrange it in advance.
