For two guests sharing, a considered private Tanzania safari often begins around US$650–850 per person per day. In peak periods, with prime camp locations, fly-in routing or more elevated lodges, it may be US$850–1,250+. The right figure is the one that delivers the days you actually want—not simply the lowest number on a spreadsheet.
What a daily Tanzania safari rate should include
Ask to see the itinerary behind the figure. The best proposals name the accommodation, show the parks and nights involved, and explain how you will travel between them. In many private land arrangements, the rate includes your room or tent, meals at camp, a private 4x4 and guide, game drives, park and conservation fees, and scheduled transfers. Light aircraft flights may be included or priced separately depending on the route.
The daily cost will not usually cover your international flights, visa, travel insurance, gratuities, premium drinks or optional experiences such as a balloon safari. That is not a warning sign; it is simply worth knowing before you compare two itineraries.
Dates and location make the biggest difference
Camp rates rise during the festive period and the most sought-after migration windows. This does not mean other months are a compromise. From January to March, the southern Serengeti can be rich with newborn wildlife; green season brings beautiful light and space; and the dry months are excellent for concentrated game viewing. What matters is matching the route to the season rather than chasing a single famous date.
Location changes the value of the day too. A camp near the wildlife action creates more time outside and fewer hours driving. In the Serengeti, the best camp is not universally the same camp: it depends on where the herds and your interests are at that time.

How to make the daily number useful
Compare the same things. Look at the number of nights, named camps, internal flights, vehicle arrangement and fees. A lower daily rate can be perfectly right for your trip, but only if it is based on a similar level of privacy, lodging and travel time. It is also useful to ask how much time is spent moving from one place to another. Three longer stays often feel more luxurious than five rushed ones.
Families and small groups can sometimes see better value per person because the vehicle and guide are shared. Couples travelling in high season may choose to spend more on location and time, then balance that through the length of stay or a shoulder-season date.
