Route Logic

Why this route works

The journey begins with classic big-game safari in Kenya, crosses into Tanzania for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then shifts into Rwanda for gorilla trekking. Botswana is placed after Rwanda because the Okavango offers a slower wilderness rhythm before the final spectacle of Victoria Falls.

Serengeti wildlife during the Grand Africa Safari
East Africa

Plains, predators and migration movement

Kenya & Tanzania

Start with the classic safari heart

Nairobi, Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro are placed first because they deliver the strongest concentration of big-game safari: lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, plains wildlife and seasonal migration movement. This gives the journey its foundation before moving into the more specialised experiences of Rwanda and Botswana.

Best time for this exact routing
  • June to October for dry-season safari and migration focus
  • January to March with a southern Serengeti calving-season adjustment
  • September and October for a strong Mara, Serengeti and Botswana combination
  • May and November for better value with careful lodge selection

Rwanda · Botswana · Victoria Falls

Finish with depth and contrast

Rwanda changes the emotional temperature of the journey: gorilla trekking is intimate, quiet and deeply personal. Botswana then opens the safari into wetlands, islands and water channels. Victoria Falls closes the route naturally, giving the journey a dramatic final chapter before departure.

Who this journey is designed for
  • Travellers wanting one major Africa trip instead of many separate safaris
  • Couples, families and private groups wanting seamless cross-border planning
  • Guests who value strong wildlife logic over rushed country-counting
  • Luxury travellers who want The Luxury Africa DMC to coordinate the full journey

Wider Journey Fit

How this fits your wider Africa plan

This Grand Africa Safari is our broadest multi-country journey. If you want a more focused East Africa version, our DMC team would normally compare it with the Tanzania safari collection or a Kenya-focused migration journey through Kenya safaris. For travellers who want the same grand scale with a stronger migration focus, we recommend pairing this page with our migration safari planning hub.

Questions

Grand Africa Safari FAQs

Practical answers before we prepare the full confirmed quotation and lodge-based proposal.

What countries are included in this 21-day safari?

The journey includes Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana and Victoria Falls. The final Falls side can be Zimbabwe or Zambia depending on flight routing, lodge availability and client preference.

Is this a private safari?

Yes. The East Africa sections are designed as private arrangements where possible. Some Botswana lodge activities may be shared depending on the selected camp, but luxury tiers can be shaped with more private handling where available.

Is the gorilla permit included?

Gorilla trekking is part of the journey. The permit can be included inside the final package rate or shown separately depending on how the client prefers the quotation presented.

What is the best season for the Grand Africa Safari?

June to October is the strongest overall window for Mara, Serengeti, Botswana and Victoria Falls. January to March can also work well if the Tanzania section is adjusted toward Ndutu and Southern Serengeti for calving season.

Can the itinerary be shortened?

Yes, but 21 days is the correct pace for this full route. Shorter versions normally remove one country or reduce Botswana and Victoria Falls time, which changes the character of the journey.
