A seamless multi-country safari from Nairobi to the Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Rwanda’s gorilla country, Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls. Designed by The Luxury Africa DMC for travellers who want the continent’s strongest safari icons in one carefully paced private journey.
This route is intentionally built from East Africa into Southern Africa: Kenya and Tanzania first for big cats, open plains and the migration ecosystem; Rwanda in the middle for the emotional peak of gorilla trekking; Botswana afterward for water-based wilderness; and Victoria Falls as the natural finale.
The route remains the same, but the accommodation standard, air routing, privacy level and lodge style change by tier. Final pricing depends on exact travel dates, room category, gorilla permits, internal flights and lodge availability.
The journey begins with classic big-game safari in Kenya, crosses into Tanzania for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then shifts into Rwanda for gorilla trekking. Botswana is placed after Rwanda because the Okavango offers a slower wilderness rhythm before the final spectacle of Victoria Falls.
Nairobi, Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro are placed first because they deliver the strongest concentration of big-game safari: lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, plains wildlife and seasonal migration movement. This gives the journey its foundation before moving into the more specialised experiences of Rwanda and Botswana.
Rwanda changes the emotional temperature of the journey: gorilla trekking is intimate, quiet and deeply personal. Botswana then opens the safari into wetlands, islands and water channels. Victoria Falls closes the route naturally, giving the journey a dramatic final chapter before departure.
This is the client-facing structure. Final lodge names, air schedules and activity order are adjusted after dates, budget level and room availability are confirmed.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, meet your representative and transfer privately to your Nairobi hotel. The rest of the day is kept intentionally light after your international flight.
Enjoy a relaxed Nairobi day with optional visits to the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum or a private dining experience. This day also protects the safari from international flight delays.
Transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight into the Masai Mara. On arrival, your guide meets you for a game drive en route to camp. Afternoon safari introduces the open grasslands and predator country of the Mara ecosystem.
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives. The Mara is one of Africa’s strongest predator landscapes, with excellent chances for lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and seasonal wildebeest movement.
Another full safari day allows your guide to respond to wildlife movement rather than rush the experience. Optional hot-air balloon safari can be added at extra cost, followed by a champagne-style bush breakfast.
Depart the Mara and connect toward Tanzania using the best available air routing for your date. Arrive in the Serengeti and continue by game drive to camp. This is where the safari expands into one of the largest wildlife ecosystems on earth.
Spend a full day in the Serengeti. Depending on season, your camp may be placed in Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, Western Corridor or Ndutu/Southern Serengeti for calving season.
Your guide uses the day flexibly, following grazing patterns, predator activity and seasonal movement. This day is not over-programmed because the Serengeti rewards patience, timing and good local interpretation.
Enjoy a final Serengeti game drive before travelling toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. The change in landscape is dramatic: open plains give way to volcanic highlands, farms, forest and crater-rim atmosphere.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full crater safari. The enclosed landscape supports dense wildlife populations, with strong chances for lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and possibly black rhino.
Transfer to the airport and fly to Kigali. On arrival, meet your Rwanda representative and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or keep the afternoon at leisure.
Drive north to Volcanoes National Park, passing Rwanda’s hills, farms and villages. Arrive near the park in time to settle into your lodge and prepare for the next morning’s gorilla trek briefing.
After an early briefing at park headquarters, trek with expert rangers into the forest to spend one unforgettable hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family. The afternoon is kept quiet, allowing time to rest and absorb the experience.
Choose a golden monkey trek, Dian Fossey visit or cultural experience before returning to Kigali. This day gives Rwanda more depth without making the gorilla trek feel rushed.
Transfer to Kigali International Airport and connect toward Botswana, normally through a regional hub such as Johannesburg depending on schedules. Arrive in Maun or Kasane and continue to your lodge or overnight point.
Explore the Delta by game drive, mokoro canoe, boat safari or walking safari depending on camp location and water levels. This is a different safari rhythm: waterways, islands, elephants, lechwe, lions, wild dogs and exceptional birdlife.
Another full day in the Okavango allows the landscape to unfold properly. Luxury camps may include night drives, seasonal boating and guided walks, while comfort options focus on strong core wildlife activities.
Continue the Botswana safari with Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Riverfront or a second Delta camp depending on final budget and flight logic. This day adds habitat variety and increases chances for elephant herds, predators and river-based wildlife.
Transfer or fly toward Victoria Falls. Check in and enjoy a guided falls visit or sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, depending on arrival time and final lodge location.
Spend the day around Victoria Falls. Options include a guided falls tour, helicopter flight, Zambezi cruise, Livingstone Island, Devil’s Pool seasonally, local markets or relaxed lodge time.
After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls Airport or Livingstone Airport for your onward international flight. Your DMC team confirms timing according to the selected departure airport and flight schedule.
This journey depends on good flight sequencing. The Luxury Africa DMC coordinates the safari in one operational plan so that cross-border movement, lodge check-ins, permits and transfers work together instead of feeling like separate trips.
This Grand Africa Safari is our broadest multi-country journey. If you want a more focused East Africa version, our DMC team would normally compare it with the Tanzania safari collection or a Kenya-focused migration journey through Kenya safaris. For travellers who want the same grand scale with a stronger migration focus, we recommend pairing this page with our migration safari planning hub.
Practical answers before we prepare the full confirmed quotation and lodge-based proposal.
The journey includes Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana and Victoria Falls. The final Falls side can be Zimbabwe or Zambia depending on flight routing, lodge availability and client preference.
Yes. The East Africa sections are designed as private arrangements where possible. Some Botswana lodge activities may be shared depending on the selected camp, but luxury tiers can be shaped with more private handling where available.
Gorilla trekking is part of the journey. The permit can be included inside the final package rate or shown separately depending on how the client prefers the quotation presented.
June to October is the strongest overall window for Mara, Serengeti, Botswana and Victoria Falls. January to March can also work well if the Tanzania section is adjusted toward Ndutu and Southern Serengeti for calving season.
Yes, but 21 days is the correct pace for this full route. Shorter versions normally remove one country or reduce Botswana and Victoria Falls time, which changes the character of the journey.
