What Is Group Joining?

Join a shared safari — see the same wild Tanzania at a fraction of the cost

A group joining safari is the smartest way to experience Tanzania without paying for a private vehicle. You share a dedicated 4×4 Land Cruiser — maximum six guests — with like-minded travellers from around the world, splitting the cost without compromising on anything that matters.

Our camping safaris start from $300 per person per day. Lodge-based group tours run $400–$550 per person per day — inclusive of meals, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater park fees, transport in a pop-top 4×4, and a professional TANAPA-licensed guide.

We operate daily departures across all seven itineraries. Every date on our calendar is a guaranteed departure — we do not cancel. If you want to travel solo, as a couple, or need to fit a set date, group joining is the answer.

Common Questions

Group joining safari FAQ

Everything you need to know before booking your shared Tanzania safari.

What exactly is a group joining safari?

A group joining safari is a shared-vehicle safari where individual travellers, couples, or small groups join together in a dedicated 4×4 Land Cruiser (maximum 6 guests). You share transport and guide costs with fellow travellers, making it the most affordable way to experience Tanzania without compromising on the quality of parks visited, accommodation, or guiding.

How much do group joining safaris cost per person per day?

Our camping group safaris start from approximately $300 per person per day (total from $990). Lodge-based group joining safaris range from $400–$550 per person per day, depending on itinerary length and accommodation standard. All prices include park fees, accommodation, full board, transport, and a professional TANAPA guide — there are no hidden extras.

Are departures guaranteed even for solo travellers?

Yes — our group joining safaris are guaranteed departures. We do not require a minimum group size to confirm your booking. Once you're booked, your seat is confirmed and the safari will depart on your selected date. The live availability calendars on each package show remaining seats for any given date.

Who will I be sharing the vehicle with?

You'll share your Land Cruiser with up to five other travellers — typically a mix of solo adventurers, couples, and small friend groups from around the world. Our guests tend to be aged 20s–50s, travel-minded, and here for the wildlife. Many group safari guests become friends for life. We never mix different safari products in the same vehicle.

What is the difference between camping and lodge group safaris?

Camping safaris use public campsites inside the national parks — shared facilities, canvas tents, and meals cooked by your safari cook over a campfire. It's raw, authentic, and the lowest price point. Lodge safaris use guesthouses, tented lodges, or luxury camps with en-suite bathrooms, buffet meals, and often a pool or bar. The wildlife experience is identical — the difference is where you sleep and how you pay for it.

What's the best group safari for first-time visitors?

The 4-Day Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro lodge safari is our recommendation for first-timers. It hits Tanzania's three iconic parks — Tarangire's elephant families, the Serengeti plains, and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater floor — in a well-paced four days at the fairest group joining price. It's consistently our highest-rated itinerary.

Can I customise the group departure dates or itinerary?

Group joining safaris operate on fixed routes and depart daily — you choose your preferred date from the availability calendar. If you'd like a customised route, different parks, or a private vehicle, we can build a private or mid-range itinerary for you from our Tanzania safari catalogue. Contact our planners with your dates and preferences.

How do I book and what payment methods are accepted?

Click "View Details" on any package to see the full booking form, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll send a personalised booking link. We accept bank transfer, and credit card. A 30% deposit confirms your seat; the balance is due 60 days before travel. For bookings within 60 days, full payment is required upfront.
