I have taken several organized trips where attractive hotels seemed more important than the actual destination. This safari was different. The lodges and meals were excellent, but the wildlife experience remained the centre of the journey.
Our guide spent time looking for animal activity instead of following the busiest vehicles. He was especially good at explaining lion behaviour in the Serengeti and the unique geography of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Gran Meliá Arusha was a comfortable beginning, Tarangire Kuro Treetops had a wonderful setting, and Serengeti Explorer by Elewana was one of our favourite stays. Kitela Lodge provided a calm ending after the crater. This luxury women-only safari combined good food and elegant accommodation with meaningful time in the parks.
