Full board is not the same as all-inclusive

A full-board stay describes a meal arrangement; it does not automatically include every drink, safari activity, flight or transfer. Likewise, an all-inclusive label can mean different things at different properties. Ask for the actual inclusion list for the accommodation and the complete itinerary rather than relying on the label.

A safari package combines several services, each with its own arrangements. Your room may include meals while an optional balloon flight is charged separately. A camp may offer game drives on a shared basis while an exclusive vehicle requires a different booking. Both distinctions should be clear before a deposit is paid.

Read the proposal in four parts

First, check accommodation: the room category, occupancy and meals or drinks covered. Second, examine transport: arrival and departure transfers, inter-camp flights and the ground transfers around them. Third, review safari activities and whether the arrangements are shared or private. Finally, identify park charges, permits and optional experiences.

For each part, ask whether it is included, excluded or still awaiting confirmation. This simple approach is more reliable than assuming everything mentioned in the day-by-day narrative is covered. A suggested walk, community visit or marine excursion only becomes an inclusion when your written proposal explicitly says so.

Leave no ambiguity about extras

International flights, insurance, visa costs, tips and personal purchases should be considered separately unless your proposal expressly includes an item. Spa treatments, premium drinks and specialist activities may also need separate payment. Ask about the payment method for extras at each camp rather than expecting the same facilities everywhere.
